Miguel from Nicaragua

HeartGift Louisiana's fourth patient, eleven year old Miguel Angel Pavon Perez of Nicaragua, gathers with some of this new friends during his farewell party at the Ramada Inn in Kenner. Miguel was diagnosed with Tetrology of Fallot and received life saving heart surgery at Children's Hospital in New Orleans on February 10, 2011. Miguel made the most of his recovery time with special trips to the Audubon Zoo and the Aquarium of the America's. He rode a ferry and a New Orleans street car, and he was even able to catch a few beads at a Mardi Gras parade. Miguel received a special treat from one of the sponsors of his surgery, OrleansShoring - a shopping trip to Academy!

HeartGift Louisiana Treats El Salvadoran Girl

HeartGift New Orleans patient, Katherine from El Salvador, was successfully treated in June 2008 for Tetralogy of Fallot. She was New Orlean's second patient. Pictured with Katherine and her mom Rosa are Brent Ramirez, Board President, Board member Leslie Ehret, Katherine's HeartGift Angel Whit Hugeley, Board member Marc Brown, and Katherine's surgeon Dr. Joseph Caspi.



New Orleans Treats First Patient Pasha from Kenya

HeartGift New Orleans announces the arrival of their first patient, 8 month old Pasha from Kenya (pictured below), who arrived in February 2010. According to HeartGift Board Chairman, Brent Ramirez, "The New Orleans chapter is committed to expanding HeartGift's work by providing life-saving surgery in New Orleans as soon as possible. We are looking forward to our first patient in February."

Pasha was successfully treated for a PDA by Dr. Joseph Caspi and returned to his native country of Kenya on March 9, 2010.
