Today is Day Zero: This is Where It All begins For Yuxiou

Looking at her photos, you can see the frailty in 3-year old Yuxiu. She is a congenital heart disease patient. That means she was born with a heart condition and needs heart surgery to survive.

Now imagine you are in a time machine and consider these to be the “before pictures,” as we at HeartGift Houston trust her recovery will start here.

Yuxiu and her mom will fly in from Beijing, China and are scheduled to arrive on Friday, September 9 in Houston, Texas for a lifesaving heart surgery.

A Chinese family from the Houston Chinese Church has volunteered to be Yuxiu and Liquian's hosts. That means there’s a place to stay before and after the surgery, so mom and patient will be surrounded by loving, everyday heroes who also speak their language!

Yuxiu’s open-heart surgery is scheduled for Thursday, September 15 at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Yuxiu is the second child we have the honor to serve in Houston this year and we already have another patient in the queue for October. Should you care to make a donation towards these lifesaving surgeries, you may do so online here. Be sure to select Houston as the beneficiary chapter in the online form.

If you are just moved by this post, please share it with others.
