Inspiration comes in many forms, but none is more powerful than the smile of
a child whose life has just been saved. It is this inspiration that drives
the members of HeartGift, and it is this inspiration that we hope will drive
you to become a part of this lifesaving team.
In 1998 five children from Kosovo, under the helping hand of a concerned
surgeon from Temple, Texas, made the journey to Austin in hopes that their
hearts be mended. All five surgical procedures were successful. As the
children returned to Kosovo with the promise of long and healthy lives,
the inspiration for HeartGift was ignited.
Since it's inception, HeartGift has served fifty children
from around the world. Over one hundred volunteers have worked to
build a bridge of hope and compassion for the families that this
program has served. It is the goal of HeartGift to serve twelve
children each year.
We need your help. Miracles are possible and lives can be saved as long
as enough people join together to support HeartGift. It takes a big heart
to help heal a small one. Actually, it takes a lot of big hearts.
