The HeartGift Foundation San Antonio Chapter Executive Director
Organizational Overview
Each day, hundreds of children around the world are born with life threatening heart conditions. Children born here in the U.S. receive immediate care and go on to live long and healthy lives. However, in many countries outside our borders, adequate care is simply not available. For children living in third world countries treatment is either completely unavailable or critically inadequate, resulting in the deaths of thousands of children each year.
The HeartGift Foundation, comprised of pediatric surgeons, cardiologists and physicians in Texas, is dedicated to providing life saving heart surgery to children with no other access to cardiac care. All participating physicians donate 100% of their time. All medical services are provided at no cost to the child's family. The HeartGift Foundation assumes financial responsibility for necessary hospital, medical and prescription expenses in addition to coordinating travel, housing arrangements, meals, translating services and other miscellaneous incidentals for each child.
